At the time of listing Denny told The Sydney Morning Herald that his house was surplus to his needs given it was too big for him and his wife. The couple were looking to downsize to an apartment in Double Bay with the hopes of buying into the newly built apartments atop the Intercontinental.

Denny is offloading other properties with his four-bedroom waterfront in the Central Coast’s Wagstaffe still on the market.

His Point Piper property has a history of well-known owners, including Seven’s then-commercial director Bruce McWilliam who sold it to Dr Tran for $16.1 million. McWilliam purchased it two years prior from investment financier Greg Woolley for $13.65 million.

It sold through Monika Tu and Jad Khattar of Black Diamondz Property Concierge.

Young couple buy luxury accommodation

Up-and-coming Northern Beaches couple Sophie and James Raper have emerged as the $9.25 million buyers of Byron Bay’s luxurious hinterland property Sun Ranch.

The creative husband and wife duo, a wedding photographer and an event planner, respectively, have taken over the reins of the premium Coopers Shoot hospitality and accommodation venue that is set on 22 hectares and can host events up to 150 guests and sleeps up to 34 people.

The Rapers, who are based in a $14 million Manly house, according to their ASIC records, married in Italy last year, not for the romance of being overseas, but because nothing in Australia quite captured what they were after when looking for wedding venues.

“We wanted somewhere with soul,” Sophie told The Sydney Morning Herald. “If Sun Ranch had been available for weddings back then, it would’ve been the one,” James said.

They purchased the home from another group of creatives Jamie Blakey (who founded fashion label One Teaspoon) and her friend and hotelier Julia Ashwood.

The acreage was previously purchased for $3.9 million in 2021 and was transformed into the current 1970s Californian-inspired accommodation over three years.

It features six architect-designed off-grid cabins, two infinity mineral pools, a sauna and a council-approved glamping site.

The Rapers plan to continue to run the property as luxury accommodation after a few subtle design upgrades.

It sold through Will Phillips of Sotheby’s International of Byron Bay who declined to comment when contacted.

The home, which has a Sonos sound system throughout, also features a basement level gym and a separate home office.

The Aussie metalcore band member purchased the home for $2.45 million in 2019 – the same year Parkway Drive headlined Bloodstock Festival in the UK.

Born and bred in Byron Bay, Gordon started playing drums at the age of 11 and is mostly self-taught.

His home is also being sold through Will Phillips of Sotheby’s International Realty Byron Bay.
