An Innaloo man is set to face court on Friday accused of attempting to import a “child-like” sex doll from China.
The charges stem from an investigation which began when officers intercepted a package addressed to the 54-year-old man and identified what Australian Federal Police described as a “child-like” sex doll.
That seizure led to investigators executing a search warrant at the man’s home, where they seized another three child-like sex dolls, as well as a mobile phone and a laptop which allegedly contained child abuse material.

The man has been charged with attempting to possess and possession of child-like sex dolls, as well as possessing child abuse material, and faces up to 15 years in jail for each charge.
AFP Acting Inspector Fleur Jennings said research showed people who used such dolls could become desensitised to the damage caused by child sexual abuse.
“These dolls are far from harmless,” she said.
“The evidence is clear the dolls are not used as a substitute for offending against real children, but in fact contribute to increased offending against children, including viewing of online child abuse material and contact sexual offending.
“The AFP will pursue any form of child exploitation or activity that encourages or reinforces the sexual abuse of children, which includes using items such as these dolls, which are legally classified as child exploitation material.”
