Making headlines this morning, the parents who spearheaded Western Australia’s ‘anytime, anywhere’ knife wanding laws will soon take their message directly to Perth teenagers, as weapons-related crime in the community doubles.

Brett and Belinda Beasley’s son Jack was stabbed and killed on a night out on the Gold Coast in December 2019, and have since dedicated themselves to tougher knife laws and education campaigns across the country.

Meanwhile, WA Police have revealed a string of charges stemming from a series of raids conducted this week on so-called “sovereign citizens”, following an operation sparked by the shooting deaths of two Victorian officers.

Police said 70 searches were done on properties around WA throughout the week, which resulted in the seizure of 135 firearms and the suspension of more than 40 gun licenses.

And defeated opposition leader Peter Dutton has laid significant blame for the Coalition’s election loss at the feet of WA Liberal MP Andrew Hastie in explosive secret submissions to the party’s election review that accuse Hastie of going “on strike” and fumbling key policies.
