Police have charged South Sydney winger Tyrone Munro with multiple domestic violence offences over an alleged incident near Homebush earlier this year.

NSW Police opened an investigation after the matter was reported on Monday, resulting in Munro being charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, stalk/intimidate with intent of fear or physical harm and common assault.

The Rabbitohs have informed the NRL’s integrity matter of the alleged incident, with the governing body likely to suspend Munro under the game’s no-fault stand-down rule once it completes its own probe.

Munro has engaged high-profile Sydney lawyer Elias Tabchouri to represent him.

“Tyrone Munro has been charged with certain matters, which are to go before the courts,” Tabchouri said. “Mr Munro will be defending these matters at this stage of proceedings. There’s not much else that can be said at this time.”

Asked if he expected the NRL to apply the no-fault stand-down rule to his client, Tabchouri said: “That’s a matter for the integrity commission at this stage.”
