Man charged with murder after two shot on property in northern NSW

A 36-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a 41-year-old at a rural property near the NSW-Queensland border on Wednesday afternoon, after police arrested the alleged murderer in bushland near the Tweed River.
Emergency services were called to a property on Tyalgum Road, Eungella, about 10 kilometres west of Murwillumbah in the NSW Northern Rivers, about 1.25pm on Wednesday. When police arrived they discovered two men – aged 38 and 41 – with gunshot wounds.

The 41-year-old man died at the property, while the 38-year-old was transferred to Gold Coast University Hospital after initially presenting at Murwillumbah Hospital. Police were told the alleged shooter and a fourth man fled from the scene on foot.
A 45-year-old was then allegedly struck by a ute on the same road at about 2pm, and was treated by intensive care paramedics for leg, chest and arm injuries. He is under police guard in hospital and will be questioned over the shooting.
Police arrested Mark Brown – the fourth man, who police allege fled the rural property following the shooting – in bushland near Tumbulgum Road about 6.40pm on Wednesday.
Brown was charged with murder at Tweed Heads Police Station, and was refused bail to appear in bail court on Thursday.
