A man has been arrested after a shooting in Croydon Park, in Sydney’s inner west, with at least four people injured and residents urged to stay inside their homes.
Specialist police raced to the area after gunshots were reported at 7.45pm on Sunday. Motorists were also urged to stay away.

About 9.30pm, a man was arrested in a building on Georges River Road and firearms were seized, NSW Police said.
“At this stage, police have been told a man was taken to Canterbury Hospital suffering a gunshot wound,” police said in a statement. “A number of other people have reported injuries.”
Georges River Road was closed between Croydon Avenue and Seymour Street and Brighton Avenue closed between Georges River Road and Queensborough Road.
A NSW Ambulance spokesman said they had treated four different patients with varying injuries.
One person with a gunshot wound presented themselves to Canterbury Hospital, he said. Another person was treated at Croydon Park and was taken by ambulance to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital but the nature of that person’s injuries was unclear.
A further two people presented themselves to Campsie police station with minor injuries, the spokesman said.
Text messages were sent to residents as a police helicopter circled overhead. Police in riot squad gear were also seen on patrol.
“The public is urged to shelter in place,” the text read.
Sanjoj Rawat, a manager at the Subway store on Georges River Road, said there were more than 30 police cars in the area.
“I was serving a customer here and one customer said, ‘Did you see what happened outside?’” he said.
Rawat said it appeared one person had been injured on Georges River Road, near Croydon Park Public School.
Police ordered him to remain inside the store since the shots were fired.
“All the people are in the lockdown,” he said.
