Greg Josephson’s death: Detectives zero in on 90-minute window

Homicide detectives are zeroing in on a 90-minute window the night Brisbane businessman Greg Josephson was allegedly killed in his multimillion-dollar Clayfield home.

Josephson, the 58-year-old co-founder of clothing chain Universal Store, died in an alleged stabbing during a party that was attended by dozens of teenagers at his home on Thursday night.

A 15-year-old boy was charged with murder the following day.

Police received an emergency call that a man had been critically injured, and arrived at the house, worth more than $5 million, after 8.15pm on Thursday.

They found Josephson’s body while about 30 unaware teenagers continued to enjoy themselves downstairs.

On Wednesday evening, police announced they were focusing on the period of time between 7pm and 8.30pm and appealed for dashcam or CCTV footage from the streets surrounding the home.

Detectives confirmed on Friday they had located the alleged weapon used, but would not elaborate on other details.

Josephson founded the Universal Store with his brother Michael, launching the first storefront in Carindale in 1999. Their uncle owned the Lee Cooper brand, while their grandfather owned workwear brand Can’t Tear ’Em.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Josephson also held roles for Westfield and Lend Lease, most recently having been the chief executive of Josephsons Holdings.
