Beloved Kath & Kim star Magda Szubanski has shared a heartfelt message from her hospital bed as she undergoes treatment for a rare and aggressive form of blood cancer.
The 64-year-old posted a video to Instagram on Sunday night, thanking a young admirer for lifting her spirits and admitting “chemo is smacking me around”.
“This is a special shout-out to 10-year-old Annabella in Adelaide,” Szubanski said on the video.
“Thank you so much for your impression of Sharon Strzelecki. I’m in here having chemo and it really cheered me up.
“Chemo is smacking me around right now and you really cheered me up. Bless you, my darling,” she added.

Her post garnered numerous messages of support.
“Bless you beautiful lady. Whole of Australia is backing you,” wrote one user.
And from another: “Love you darling Magda. We are all with you, the most loved woman in Australia, if not the world.”
Szubanski revealed in May that she had been diagnosed with stage four mantle cell lymphoma.
In August she was inducted into the Logies Hall of Fame, confirming her place at the epicentre of Australian culture.
She wasn’t at the awards ceremony at The Star in Sydney, but in a taped speech she said: “Let’s get this out of the way. I have not been awarded this honour because I have the cancer. I am getting this because of 40 years of hard work – lobbying, bribing, threatening, whatever it took.”
