Brisbane man charged with threatening to kill pro-Palestine campaigner Remah Naji

A Brisbane man has been charged with using a carriage service to threaten to kill Justice for Palestine Magan-djin spokeswoman Remah Naji.
Queensland Police confirmed on Thursday that following an investigation, the Counter-Terrorism Investigation Group conducted a search warrant at a Thomas Street, West End address today, Thursday, 18 September, where they arrested a 43-year-old West End man.
Police said in a statement they will allege the man made the threats on August 14 and August 18.

“Everyone in Queensland has a right to feel safe and the Queensland Police Service remains committed to community safety and engaging with people from across our culturally diverse society to help foster relationships and build upon platforms for community engagement,” they said.
“Instances of serious vilification and hate crime are a criminal matter in Queensland, and where these are reported to police, investigations will be undertaken to prosecute those responsible.”
The man has been charged with one count each of use a carriage service to make a threat to kill, using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence and is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on November 26.

Naji, who was also the Greens candidate for the southern Brisbane seat of Moreton at this year’s federal election, was a leading organiser of the huge March for Palestine last month in Brisbane.
Tens of thousands of protesters marched over the Victoria Bridge from Brisbane’s CBD on August 24, as part of national rallies around the country against Israel’s bombardment of Palestine amid worsening famine in Gaza.
