Anthony Albanese and his bride Jodie Haydon marked their marriage with a two-tier wedding cake and a music playlist that matched the tastes of the happy couple.
A day after the first wedding of a sitting prime minister while in office, details of the event that occurred in the gardens of The Lodge in Canberra are starting to emerge.

Finance Minister Katy Gallagher, a Canberra-local who was one of the 40 guests to the event, revealed on Sunday that Albanese, Haydon, her parents and the prime minister’s son Nathan all gave speeches before one of the key elements of the wedding – the cutting of the cake.
“I didn’t have any, I’m not a cake person, but, it was a two-tier wedding cake,” she said.
“It was stunning and they both gave their speeches just before cutting the cake.”
Gallagher professed to not being a dancer, but said there was a dance floor and music in line with the tastes of the bride and groom.
“There was certainly a dance floor and there was music going, yes, and as anyone who knows the PM and Jodie, they both love music,” she said.
“It’s one of the things that they share together and so, yes, there was very tailored music.
“It was just a lovely night, a lovely day, lovely afternoon and the PM and Jodie were just thrilled with how it all went down and hopefully they’re resting this morning.”
Albanese and Haydon have confirmed they paid for the event which was held in the northern garden area of The Lodge.

Gallagher said she believed all guidelines around using The Lodge had been followed, noting there were security aspects to hold the wedding at the prime ministerial residence.
“It would be difficult if you’re prime minister to get married anywhere, to be honest. I think there was some, certainly some advice taken about security, that needed to be taken into consideration,” she said.
Coalition leader Sussan Ley said she was okay with the wedding being held at The Lodge.
“I wish Anthony and Jodie every happiness. For me, I wish them every happiness as they continue to build their life together,” she told Sky News.
Nationals’ leader David Littleproud said he was happy to see the PM tie the knot, noting that Ms Haydon was already representing the nation by Albanese’s side.
“It’s great to see the PM has someone who loves him and will be with him. It is a tough and lonely job, let alone prime minister,” he told ABC’s Insiders program.
“Jodie has already stepped up on the international stage and represented us in such a classy way for some time and now they’ve solidified their partnership with marriage and I think good on him.“
Littleproud said he hoped Albanese had a “bit of a break” after the nuptials.
The couple plan to have an Australia-based honeymoon starting tomorrow.
