‘You will get yours’: Liam Gallagher hits out after flare lit in Melbourne Oasis crowd

Oasis singer Liam Gallagher has hit out at hooligans who threw a flare into the crowd at the band’s Friday night Melbourne show – the first concert of its Australian tour – warning them “you will get yours”.

In videos posted online, a flare can be seen being thrown high into the air from the general admission area of Marvel Stadium during the band’s final song, Champagne Supernova, before arching back into the crowd while still aflame.

A flare was lit in the crowd at the Oasis concert at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on Friday night.

Vision from another angle near where the flare was thrown shows a man passing the burning flare to another man, before he launches it overhead.

Smoke can be seen eminating from the place where it lands in the packed crowd.

No long after the flare was let off, Gallagher acknowledged the incident from the stage, chiding the people responsible as “naughty, naughty”.

In an expletive-laded message posted to X on Saturday morning, Gallagher said the person who had launched the flare into the crowd would be punished following the unsafe action.

“You are 1 seriously f---ed up individual and you will get yours trust me,” he said in a post via his X account.

A spokesman for Marvel Stadium said security protocols would not change for Oasis’ second gig in Melbourne on Saturday night, with bag checks and wanding of patrons to continue.

The spokesman said Gallagher’s post had best summed up how people were feeling about the concertgoer who lit the flare, adding that the vast majority of the 60,000 people who attended the gig had been well behaved.

“Security acted quickly, but the patron involved in throwing the flare wasn’t found. Thankfully no one was injured,” he said.

A Victoria Police spokesman said no arrests had been made at Marvel Stadium on Friday night, and the deployment of flares had not been reported to them by the venue.
