WA news LIVE: Taxi causes significant damage during chase through western suburbs

3 weeks ago 3

Good morning all and welcome to Friday’s live blog.

In case you missed it yesterday, WA’s top cop – Police Commissioner Col Blanch – has confirmed that all eyes are on notorious Melbourne crime boss Kaz Hamad as tobacco wars increase in Perth.

Hamad was publicly linked to the firebombing of a Melbourne synagogue.

Blanch spoke on Thursday of increased focus on those involved in organised crime in WA in relation to the arrest of a 29-year-old man they claim fired shots at a Ballajura convenience store earlier this month.

And speaking of WA Police, their eyes will be set on the March for Australia rally, to be held on Sunday in Perth at the Supreme Court Gardens.

Blanch confirmed that if anyone showed a Nazi symbol, they would be removed and charged.

Nationally, the organiser of the rally in Sydney has been recorded coaching listeners to say the protest was fighting to protect “Australian heritage” rather than “white Australia” to avoid being labelled Nazis.

You can read more about that, and who is behind the rallies nationally, here.
