There are multiple bushfire emergencies breaking out across the state’s Great Southern region, with residents in some areas warned it is now too late to leave.
In Mindarabin and in Cowalellup, Mills Lake, Ongerup and Toompup, in the Shire of Gnowangerup, there are two separate emergency warnings in place after a fire was reported at 12.18pm.
For those in Mindarabin, it is now too late to leave, with fire impacting evacuation routes putting lives in danger.
Anyone remaining should identify a room in their home to shelter from the approaching fire.
It should have running water, such as a kitchen or laundry, and a clear escape path.
For those in the remaining suburbs, in an area bounded by Ongerup Creek, O’Neil Road, Magners Road and Peedilip Creek, emergency services have urged the community to leave if the way is clear.
The bushfires are both moving north and are not contained or controlled.
Firefighters are actively fighting the fire, and Farmer Response, bushfire brigades and the Shire of Gnowangerup are also in attendance.
A bushfire watch and act warning is also in place for people in Broomehill Village and surrounding areas in the Shire of Broomehill-Tambellup.
The warning was recently downgraded from an emergency, with firefighters bringing the flames under control.
