Andrew Tate has denied the allegations of sexual violence made against him

A police force being investigated over its handling of sexual abuse claims made against Andrew Tate has reopened its inquiry into the allegations.

Hertfordshire Constabulary said it would be reinvestigating the alleged rape and sexual assault offences which were reported between 2014 and 2015.

The decision comes a day after the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) said it was looking into how the force handled claims made against Tate, who denies all allegations.

The police force told the BBC it was "committed to doing what is right and ensuring that allegations of such a serious nature are properly, thoroughly and fully investigated, no matter how long ago they occurred".

It confirmed that a decision has been made "to reinvestigate allegations made by women between 2014 and 2015 relating to rape and sexual assault offences".

It told the BBC: "At this early stage it would be inappropriate to comment any further."

The three women who made the allegations against Tate said the decision to reopen the investigation was "long overdue".

Hertfordshire Constabulary's statement comes a day after the IOPC announced that it would investigate the force's handling of allegations made by three women against Tate.

The police watchdog said that a former detective constable could face gross misconduct proceedings - relating to alleged failures to properly investigate - and that two former detective sergeants were being investigated for alleged misconduct.

In response to the IOPC's decision, Tate's lawyer, Andrew Ford, said: "The CPS decided in 2019 and again in 2025 to take no further action in relation to this case as there was insufficient evidence to charge."

The three women, who allege that Tate used sexual violence against them, have taken their claims to the High Court alongside a fourth woman. The civil trial is due to take place in June this year.

A spokesperson for Tate told the BBC on Wednesday: "Mr Tate continues to deny all allegations in the strongest possible terms. He will engage with any proper legal process in full, as he has consistently done."
