We’re back at Flemington after all the excitement and drama of Tuesday, but today’s races won’t start until 1pm. The track is a soft 5; the rail is out six metres the entire circuit.
The main drawcard today is the VRC Oaks, which will be at 5.10pm. It’s a race over 2500 metres and Getta Good Feeling is the favourite, with Mark Zahra on board.

Jockey of the carnival Zahra will be shooting for his third group 1 victory in six days after snaring four winners on Saturday, including the Coolmore Stud Stakes and Victoria Derby, as well as riding the Danny O’Brien-trained Getta Good Feeling to victory in the Wakeful Stakes.
O’Brien is shooting for his second VRC Oaks, having won the 2500m group 1 staying test for three-year-old fillies with Miami Bound in 2017.
My best bet for the day is Guerite, No.6 in race 6. Guerite sprouted wings last start at Bendigo when she flew home in a lead-up race. Just needs to get the extra 200m and repeat the dose, and Guerite will be hard to beat in the Melbourne Cup Carnival Country final.
My roughie is Regal Azmon (race 5, No.7) – a sneaky chance in a tough race. Phillip Stokes is a guru at setting and placing his horses, and this looks to be a well-planned goal third-up.
Oaks Day quaddie: 1st leg: 6, 15; 2nd leg: 1, 4, 5, 6 9, 7, 10, 11, 13 ; 3rd leg: 1, 7; 4th leg: 1, 2.
