A body found at a home north of Brisbane early on Monday had no obvious signs of serious injury, police say, but they are treating the death as suspicious and a homicide investigation is under way.

Officers discovered the 36-year-old man after being called to the two-storey property on Navua Street in Strathpine just before 1am.

Detective Inspector Phil Hurst told media the man was a short-term resident of the house, and had briefly known the two other occupants.

He added the dead man had some minor unexplained injuries, but none that accounted for his death.

“We have a number of witness versions, and they don’t clearly explain what brought about this death,” Hurst said.

A homicide investigation was under way, with police treating the death as suspicious.

Hurst said police would explore the possibility the man had been using drugs or alcohol.

“The autopsy tomorrow is going to be the kicker for us,” he said.

Forensic teams were seen outside the home on Monday morning, with officers taping off the driveway and front garden.
