A search is under way for a man missing in a river north of Bundaberg days after two tourists were found dead in their flooded vehicle and floodwater wreaked havoc in the region.
The missing man had entered the Burnett River from a houseboat near Adams Street at Burnett Heads about 1am on Friday, and failed to resurface.
Emergency services are searching by land and air.
The region was severely flooded, with the deluge affecting hundreds of homes and buildings in Bundaberg and surrounds and displacing thousands of residents.
A clean-up mission is now under way in the Central Queensland city.
Floodwater did not reach historic levels but was deadly.
Two Chinese tourists died after their car was submerged earlier this week, and went off the side of a bridge.
The pair – a 26-year-old man and 23-year-old woman – were found in a Subaru Forester recovered on Kilkivan Tansey Road at Kilkivan, a township west of Gympie and about 220 kilometres north of Brisbane.
Police said the two Chinese nationals were on a road trip from Brisbane to Mundubbera when flooding hit the area.
The pair were reported missing on Tuesday and their SUV was discovered on Wednesday, though it took divers until Thursday to access the vehicle and recover their bodies.
Widespread heavy rain last week left large parts of Central Queensland inundated as the swollen Burnett River broke its banks, in scenes reminiscent of the 2010 floods.
In Bundaberg, the Burnett River reached a peak of 7.4 metres, impacting 240 homes and 120 businesses.
