Man found with gunshot wounds after Epping car crash

A man was found with gunshot wounds and a woman is fighting for life following a crash in Melbourne’s north overnight.

Police established a significant crime scene on Cooper Street near the Hume Freeway exit in Epping, after finding the 23-year-old seriously injured at about 9.30pm on Monday.

An 18-year-old woman from the same car was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries believed to be a result of the collision.

The truck driver was uninjured, and police do not believe they had any involvement in the shooting.

The road in Melbourne’s north reopened in both directions shortly after 6am Tuesday.
