Man dead, teen critical after helicopter crash in Sydney’s south-west

A man has died, and a teenager is in a critical condition following a helicopter crash in Sydney’s south-west on Friday afternoon.

Emergency services were called at about 1.30pm on Friday after reports that a helicopter had crashed into a car at Bankstown Airport.

A man was treated by paramedics, but was unable to be revived and died at the scene. The 19-year-old man was treated for serious injuries before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.

The teenager was taken to hospital with head and facial injuries, as well as possible spinal injuries.

Police have established a crime scene, and an investigation into the cause of the crash will be conducted by the Australian Transport Safety Bureau.

The man who died is yet to be formally identified. A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
