A man is dead following the second fatal shooting south of Brisbane this week, with police describing the latest incident as another “targeted” attack.
Police have launched a homicide investigation after a 41-year-old man was shot inside a house on Rowanda Street in Slacks Creek about 1am on Friday.
Detective Acting Inspector Jason Kitto said officers found the 41-year-old man seriously injured outside the low-set house.
“The incident occurred inside the address, upon our arrival he was located out the front … [it’s] unknown how he got there at this … time,” Kitto said.
The victim was rushed to hospital, but was declared dead upon arrival.
Kitto described the shooting as targeted and said police were searching for several people who had been at the property during the incident, but left before emergency services arrived.
“We believe they were all known to each other, so it’s obviously not a random attack,” he said.
“Something has occurred in the confines of that residence.”

He said “a few” people had remained at the property waiting for police to arrive and were helping detectives with their investigation.
“We’re talking to a number of people that are assisting with our inquiries … we are doing all the normal door knocks and CCTV,” Kitto said.
“Our forensic officers are at the scene at Rowanda Street. They will methodically process that scene outside and inside, and then obviously we will have inquiries in relation to the 41-year-old male who is deceased. ”
Police have no reason to suspect there is any link between the 41-year-old man’s death and the fatal shooting of a 35-year-old man in a Beenleigh park on Wednesday.
“There are guns in the community, that’s something I can’t control … all I can say is that Queensland police treat any firearm offence as a priority,” Kitto said.
He could not provide details on the extent of the victim’s injuries or his background, but said the 41-year-old man was known to police.
Police have appealed to anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have dashcam or CCTV footage from the area, to come forward.
