Welcome to our live coverage of the state funeral for the late broadcaster John Laws. I’m Angus Thomson, and I’ll be bringing you all the tributes, images and details of notable guests at St Andrew’s Cathedral this afternoon.
Family, friends, dignitaries and members of the public have begun arriving at the Cathedral ahead of the formalities from 1.30pm.
Laws’ family accepted the offer of a state funeral from NSW Premier Chris Minns, who described the broadcaster as a “towering figure in Australian radio whose voice resonated across the nation for more than seven decades”.
For an overview of today’s proceedings, my colleague Daniel Lo Surdo has prepared a handy guide on what to expect.
