Emerging apprentice Jett Newman will be out to improve on her already solid record when she heads to Coffs Harbour on Sunday with four leading chances.

Newman, the daughter of former leading apprentice and talented hoop Mitch Newman, will start her day when partnering the Trevor Whittington-trained Beebee in the Sawtell Bowling Club Country Boosted Maiden Plate (1015m).

“I rode him the other day at Port Macquarie,” said Jett Newman.

“He went forward in that race and fought to the line pretty well.

“He should be improved by that run and will be pretty hard to hold out.”

Newman will ride Avoid The Mistress for trainer Indiana Turner in the Sawtell Hotel Class 1 Handicap (1415m).

“She’s a mare that is resuming from a spell,” said Newman.

“She has a win and a placing to her name, and she resumes after a couple of trials.”

Aye Aye Skipper is Newman’s mount for trainer John Sprague in the Boambee Bay Service Station & General Store Class 3 Handicap (1215m).

Newman has been aboard Aye Aye Skipper in each of his latest two starts, finishing fourth at Casino and third at Port Macquarie. Those runs followed a win at Grafton in May when ridden by Danny Peisley.

Newman rounds out her day when partnering the Kris Lees trained Russian Roni in the Sawtell RSL Sawtell Cup (1515m).

Russian Roni was down the track in the Gunnedah Cup and followed that up with a last start second in the Wauchope Cup after leading.

Newman said Russian Roni is a talented galloped that should give plenty of cheek again.

Meanwhile, trainer Donna Grisedale will be represented by three runners at her home track meeting.

Husband Jon Grisedale will partner Pied Veloci in the Pete Murray @ Sawtell RSK Maiden Handicap (1315m). He is also on Meghan in the Happy 80th Birthday Ma Class 1 Handicap (1415m).

Donna Grisedale’s final runner of the day will be last-start second placegetter Speedy Target in the Sawtell Chillifest Country Boosted Benchmark 58 Handicap (1015m). Glenn Cahill sticks with the galloper having been aboard last time out.
