Dezi Freeman: Police confirm operation near Benalla as part of hunt for alleged police killer
Police have confirmed there is a development in the manhunt for Dezi Freeman, accused of shooting dead two police officers in the north-east Victorian town of Porepunkah in late August.
They have confirmed they are currently “in the Benalla area as part of a planned operation”.

“This forms part of the ongoing investigation in the Porepunkah area in the search for Desmond Freeman.”
“There is no immediate risk to community safety and further information will be provided once operationally appropriate to do so.”
