Alleged thief coaxed out of tree following home invasion north of Brisbane

A 30-year-old man officers coaxed out of a tree over an almost 12-hour period on Sunday night is set to appear before court today.

Police were called to a Stirling Street home, in Bridgeman Downs, about 3.30pm on Sunday, following allegations two men had broken into the home and stolen a car.

The 40-year-old male resident allegedly confronted the pair, who police have since said threatened him with a knife before allegedly fleeing in the 40-year-old’s white Toyota Corolla.

Officers said they tracked one of the alleged offenders – a 30-year-old Strathpine man – to a home in Strathpine about 6.30pm on Sunday.

The 30-year-old then climbed a tree but was eventually coaxed down and arrested almost 12 hours later, about 6.50am.

He was charged with four offences including robbery armed/in company/wounded/use personal violence, serious assault police officer, possessing dangerous drugs, and was expected before Brisbane Magistrates Court today.

Man charged with murder on the Gold Coast

Police have charged a man on the Gold Coast with murder following the suspicious disappearance of a man west of Brisbane.

The 45-year-old accused, from Crows Nest, was charged in Southport yesterday, and crime scenes were established on two properties north of Toowoomba, in Hampton and Cressbrook Creek.

A 48-year-old from Hampton is believed to have been missing since early October.

The 45-year-old is expected to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today, while anyone with information on the situation is urged to contact the police.

New CCTV two weeks after man vanished west of Brisbane

A man who vanished west of Brisbane almost two weeks ago is pictured in new images released by police.

Todd King left his Gatton home in a white Toyota Corolla on October 8.

“[He] has not been seen or heard from since,” a statement from Queensland police said.

The 41-year-old has a light complexion, medium build, grey hair and blue eyes.

He is about 185 centimetres tall, and was last seen wearing black shorts with a black and white shirt partially covered with camouflage printing.

Images have been released by police, with no context on where and when they were taken.

The car King was driving had registration plates 617 IMZ.

Anyone with information on the disappearance is urged to contact police.

A sunny day is ahead in the River City today.

The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast a fine Tuesday with a top temperature of 30 degrees, with similar conditions to be expected tomorrow.
