Human-sized spiders, skeletons and cackling witches have taken over homes and businesses across Brisbane. Friday marks Halloween, and Brisbane residents are definitely taking it seriously.
Though many consider it predominantly an American holiday, Tarragindi business owners Sarah Jones and Kymberlee Strow of Good Things Grocer saw All Hallows’ Eve as an opportunity to bring the community together.
“Halloween has become one of our favourite community moments each year – the costumes, the chaos, the kids (and adults!) having a laugh – it’s pure good fun,” the pair told this masthead.

“We love any excuse to bring the neighbourhood together, and Halloween gives us the perfect mix of creativity, silliness, and sugar.”
The grocer will be hosting its annual food truck pop-up, which involves closing the carpark and setting up a bar. The event has grown in popularity recently, especially as more homes in the area get involved with decorating and trick-or-treating.
“You can really feel the sense of community and excitement. The costumes get bigger, the lolly bags get heavier, and the smiles just keep coming.
“We are all for anything that brings this much joy and community together.”

Good Things Grocer’s Halloween Party
When: Friday, October 31, 6pm-8pm
Food trucks and a bar will take over the carpark of the Tarragindi grocer with treats for the kids, hay bales and lighting.
Grange Social’s Annual Halloween Event
When: Friday, October 31 from 3.30pm
Once again, Grange Social Bowls Club will be hosting its Halloween spectacular, complete with rides, face painting, live music, food and “spooky fun”.
Halloween at Eat Street Northshore
When: Friday, October 31 and Saturday, November 1, 4pm-10pm; Sunday, November 2, 4pm-9pm
Eat Street Northshore is transforming into a spooky foodie destination for the entire weekend with live bands and roving performers, plus visitors are encouraged to come dressed up.
Trick or Treat Little Stanley Street
When: Friday, October 31 and Saturday, November 1, 5pm-9pm
For two nights, Little Stanley Street is hosting a Halloween festival, complete with a spooky scavenger hunt (it’s free, but you need to reserve your spot), an outdoor cinema, ghost trains, kids craft markets and roving performers.

Bulimba’s Hocus Pocus Halloween

Hosted at Bulimba Memorial Park, the Hocus Pocus Halloween festival is back with lollies, a kids’ disco, live entertainment, food trucks and market stalls. There are even prizes for best-dressed up for grabs.
Wellers Hill Bowls Club’s Halloween Movie Night
When: Friday, October 31, 5pm
This free community event will see Wellers Hill Bowls Club get a spooky makeover with activities including a costume competition and scavenger hunt from 5pm and Hotel Translyvania playing from 6.15pm.

North Lakes’ Cursed on Conway Halloween walkthrough
When: Friday, October 31 and Saturday, November 1, 5pm-8pm
Cursed on Conway is back with a Halloween walkthrough experience on Friday and Saturday nights. Friday night will also feature a trick-or-treat section, with visitors encouraged to bring a bucket for lollies.
