Wyong trainer Kim Waugh is confident Blue Suede Hooves can open his winning account when she sends the galloper out at Port Macquarie on Tuesday.

Waugh has the six-start veteran set to contest the Brookvale Union Maiden Handicap (1000m) with jockey Ashley Morgan taking the ride.

A four-year-old gelding by Blue Point, Blue Suede Hooves is resuming from a spell, and Waugh believes he’s in a race to suit.

“It does look like an ideal race for him,” said Waugh. “He was in good form at the end of his last campaign, having finished third at Newcastle and then second at Gosford.

“He’s had two trials leading into his return to racing, and he won the latest of them at Wyong.

“He’s drawn barrier one at Port Macquarie, so he should get every chance from that draw and take plenty of beating.”

Waugh will have one other runner at the Port Macquarie meeting, with Adelina Falls set to be ridden by Anna Roper when it lines up in the Tacking Point Tavern Maiden Plate (1500m).

Adelina Falls was resuming from a spell at its latest start at Taree and finished midfield behind the Kris Lees trained Dark Justice.

“It wasn’t a bad run,” said Waugh. “She was back in the field and managed to get past a few in the run to the line.”

Lees will also have two strong chances lining up at Port Macquarie, with Trounce to be ridden by Andrew Gibbons in the Carlton Dry Class 1 Handicap (1500m) and Naughty Nurse set to start in the TAB.com.au Benchmark 66 Handicap (1500m) with William Stanley in the saddle.

Trounce was a winner at Taree two starts ago and then ran third at the same track last time out, while Naughty Nurse was a winner at Port Macquarie two starts ago.

Meanwhile, Newcastle trainer Nathan Doyle has three good chances at Port Macquarie with favourites Dwayne (Liberty Smyth) and Bohemian Art (Morgan) lining up against Adelina Falls, and Better Late (Morgan) resuming in the De Bortoli Wines Benchmark 58 Handicap (1000m).
