The gun combination of trainer Bjorn Baker and jockey Rachel King will be in action at Hawkesbury on Sunday with the pair out to snare a winning double.

Baker and King will link when last-start winner Pentagon lines up in the Merry Christmas Class 1 Handicap (1400m) against stablemate My Shareena, which will be ridden by Regan Bayliss.

“Pentagon is a really nice, progressive horse, that had four starts in New Zealand before arriving in our stable,” said Baker.

“He trialled well a couple of times for us before we took him to Hawkesbury last month and he did the job well to win his maiden in impressive fashion.

“Rachel [King] was on him in the latest trial and then the race at Hawkesbury, and she knows how talented he is. He’s done nothing wrong since he won that race and I’m excited to see him go on with the job.”

My Shareena has only had three starts and after a debut fourth at Bathurst she managed to win her maiden at Newcastle in June. She resumed with a fifth at Hawkesbury on the same day that Pentagon won.

“My Shareena is a nice filly by Zousain and her run the other day was sound,” Baker said.

“She’ll be improved by that and I’m sure she’ll be competitive again at Hawkesbury.”

King and Baker team up again when Celebrity looks to keep his unbeaten record intact in the Mahoney Group Electrical Benchmark 64 Handicap (1800m).

Celebrity debuted at Wyong over 1625m and won in good style in a small field of five.

“He’s a horse with plenty of upside,” Baker said of Celebrity.

“He’s a son of Shocking, and he won a Melbourne Cup, so the step up to the 1800m at Hawkesbury on Sunday shouldn’t pose any problems for him.

“He impressed winning at Wyong at his only start and has pleased us since then. Like Pentagon, Rachel was on Celebrity at his last-start win and she’ll be full of confidence that he can run right up to that effort at Hawkesbury.”
