Larry Diamond, a co-founder and former chief executive of Zip Co, the buy now, pay later player, along with his wife, Ashlyn, has splashed $17 million on a three-storey Dover Heights mansion with a pool.

Ashlyn emerged on settlement documents this week as the buyer of the six-bedroom, four-bathroom residence with Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House views. A mortgage is with NAB.

The couple and their children are upgrading from a five-bedroom, four-bathroom abode in Rose Bay that they paid $5.12 million for in 2018, records show. Ashlyn is also listed solely on the title of that property.

A sold sticker went up on the listing for the Dover Heights home, indicating a sale prior to auction, on February 26, with the price undisclosed. It was left to settlement to reveal the sale price and buyer’s identity.

The Diamonds bought the mansion from Michelle Barel, a migration expert and founder of Direct Migration Experts, and project manager Michael Barel, who both inherited the property. The house last sold for $660,000 in 1991, records show.

Larry Diamond co-founded Zip Co (formerly ZipMoney) with finance industry veteran Peter Gray in 2013 and was chief executive and its US chairman. He stepped down as a director and US chairman in 2024 to start a family office and philanthropic foundation.

He sold $100 million worth of shares one day after he resigned from the board of Zip Co, The Australian Financial Review reported. Larry had made the AFR’s 2022 Young Rich List with an estimated wealth of $104 million.

The Diamonds are directors of a charity, Tekva, which assists Australians under financial pressure. Tekva is described as a practical recovery system for working-age Australians who face economic stress, offering hardship support, financial counselling, AI upskilling and emergency grants, as stated on its website.

Elliott Placks and Danny Taylor of Ray White Double Bay sold the Dover Heights home, and both declined to comment on any aspect of the sale when contacted by this masthead.

Surgeon lists refreshed unit

Cosmetic surgeon Dr Anoop Rastogi and his wife, Joye, have put a Bondi Beach apartment on the market with a price guide of $16 million, local sources revealed.

Cosmetic surgeon Dr Anoop Rastogi and wife Joye have put their refreshed Bondi Beach pad with stunning views on the market.

The penthouse is in an art deco block, the facade of which was featured in the 1999 Aussie film Two Hands that starred the late Heath Ledger, Rose Byrne and Bryan Brown.

Ledger’s breakthrough film, 10 Things I Hate About You, was released that same year. In Two Hands, he plays the lead role of Jimmy, who works for local crime boss Pando (Brown) only to lose a package of $10,000 that two kids go on a shopping spree with. Jimmy’s love interest, Alex, is played by Byrne.

The four-bedroom, three-bathroom penthouse apartment has a price guide of $16 million, local sources have revealed.

The Rastogis bought two top-floor, two-bedroom, one-bathroom units in the complex, one for $850,000 in 2008 and the other for $1.84 million in 2021, records show, and transformed them into a four-bedroom, three-bathroom penthouse apartment.

Interiors have been modernised by design firm Handelsmann + Khaw and feature timber floors, a marble kitchen with butler’s pantry and plush carpet. There is new electricity and plumbing, and the living zone offers knockout views of Bondi Beach and hotspot Icebergs.

The couple also owns a four-bedroom, five-bathroom house in Bronte that was purchased for $4.6 million in 2004 from PR supremo Judi Hausmann.

Dr Rastogi has more than 30 years of medical and surgical experience in Australia and abroad, as stated on the website of his Double Bay practice. He regularly appeared on Mornings with Kerri-Anne, a now defunct talk show that aired on Nine, the owner of this masthead.

The Bondi Beach pad is being sold by Jeff Freund and Jason Taylor of Richardson & Wrench. An auction has been scheduled for July 21.

Australia Test cricket captain Pat Cummins and his wife, Becky, have lodged DA plans with Waverley Council for their $16 million Bronte home, which was settled last August.

The couple bought the 1880s-built two-storey, five-bedroom, four-bathroom residence from Keri Spooner, the deputy mayor of Waverley Council. Spooner and her late husband, Brian O’Neill, paid $990,000 for the abode in 1996, records show.

Architectural plans by MHN Design Union reveal a four-bedroom design that blends old with new. The existing Victorian-style structure will be restored with a steel and glass bridge that connects a contemporary rammed-earth pavilion.

New and restored arched windows are proposed, along with finely crafted metalwork and a new steel lace balustrade. The plans also include a pool and landscaping by Wyer & Co.

In January, the Cumminses also paid $4.8 million for a semi-detached house behind their $16 million home. The two-bedroom, one-bathroom abode is available to rent for $1095 a week, as stated on the listing.

They sold their prior Bronte home in an off-market deal for $15 million, with settlement documents in April revealing Tracy Pillemer, wife of PPS Mutual chief executive Michael Pillemer, as the buyer.

The Cumminses bought the five-bedroom, two-bathroom residence with pool for $9.3 million in 2021 from Anthony and Nikki Moustacas, the owners of cafe Indigo Double Bay, records show.
