An 18-year-old man has died after falling six storeys from an inner-Brisbane hotel while fleeing police.

Officers were called to the building on Wickham Terrace, Spring Hill, about 5.50pm on Saturday after someone reported seeing a wanted man.

Police said the young man had been in a sixth-storey unit when officers arrived.

Police were called to the hotel after someone reported seeing a wanted man.

He then tried to flee to a lower level using the unit’s balcony, but fell and suffered serious injuries.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Queensland police statement said the coroner had been advised and an Ethical Standards Command investigation launched, overseen by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
