“Well we’ve come up here, and she’s just started swerving and there’s nothing he could do,” one of the boys from the group told 9News Perth.
“He’s lost control and hit the tree.
“We were going the speed limit until she came up.”
Friends of the teen said the boys riding with him stayed by his side until the paramedics arrived.
Locals told 9News Perth it was a common sight to see motorbikes tearing up the road, adding that it was dangerous, and they were “fed up”.
“Certainly we are concerned about drivers who will take matters into their own hands that may cause serious injury to others,” WA Police Commissioner Col Blanch said when asked about the incident on Wednesday.
The driver is due to appear in Rockingham Magistrates Court next month.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
