WA Police have seized 45 kilograms of cocaine – most of which was hidden under a concrete slab at a Welshpool commercial premises – after executing several search warrants across Perth earlier this month.
The massive drug bust began as a traffic stop on Leach Highway in Welshpool, where one kilogram of cocaine was allegedly found inside the car of a 30-year-old man.

Subsequent to that arrest, a raid of the man’s Beeliar house allegedly uncovered $92,000 in cash, and more drugs, including three kilograms of methylamphetamine.
Later that same day, detectives from the drug and firearm squad executed search warrants at a commercial property in Welshpool and a residence in Maylands.
“It will be alleged police seized approximately 28.5 kilograms of cocaine buried under a slab at the premises, along with an amount of 1,4-butanediol and illegally owned prescription drugs,” a WA Police spokesman said.
“A 37-year-old man was apprehended.”
Later that same day, a 33-year-old man was arrested at a house in Landsdale, with police also allegedly seizing 15 kilograms of cocaine and $23,000 in cash from his residence.
The trio have been charged with a string of drug-related offences and will appear in court next year.
Detective Senior Sergeant Andy Baker said the arrests reinforced WA Police’s determination to dismantle organised crime and protect the community.
“These arrests should send another example of the efforts we take to target organised criminal networks. If you think you can get away with this sort of activity, think again,” he said.

Gun, cash, meth seized in Bayswater
The arrests came a week before a Leederville man, 28, was allegedly caught with a firearm, more than $270,000 in cash and a trafficable quantity of methamphetamine on December 10.
The man was arrested outside a residence in Bayswater and a search of his vehicle allegedly uncovered one kilogram of methylamphetamine and $4500 cash. A subsequent search of an industrial unit on the same street allegedly found more methamphetamine and a handgun.
The man’s house was then raided and a further $265,000 in cash was allegedly recovered. The man’s arrest and charges are not alleged to be connected to the Welshpool seizure.
