WA mining billionaire Andrew ‘Twiggy’ Forrest has taken a fresh swing at the US president in an interview on the Today Show this morning.

He was brought on to discuss comments he made surrounding Donald Trump’s energy policies – which Forrest labelled as “gobsmackingly illogical”.

That was before Trump’s UN speech when he called climate change a “con job”.

Speaking this morning, Forrest – who invited the president to sue him before inviting him scuba diving – said you had to “be able to speak truth to power otherwise power is never going to hear it”.

“The coral reef decimation across Australia, mate, you come and walk a mile in my shoes before you come out with utter bulldust saying that global warming is not hitting us,” he said.

“It’s hitting us hard, you just probably can’t feel it in the White House mate, air conditioner’s on, nice is it mate?”

He said the US was backing a “tired old horse” in oil and gas and that it would only win if you “kill all the other horses”.

“That’s not good for the American people, mate,” Forrest said.

He was then asked about whether he had confronted Anthony Albanese about Australia’s climate targets, and stated the federal government was well aware he believed there needed to be a minimum 70 per cent reduction in emissions.

“If … you evolve into 70 per cent being a minimum, then all the lazy CEOs, they’re going to have to get off their tails and stop just soaking up bonuses and actually do some work,” Forrest said.

“The technology is there. That’s what Australia deserves and indeed, where I am in America, that’s what they deserve.”
