Woman accused of stabbing man at Thornlie house

A woman has been accused of stabbing a man known to her during an altercation at a Thornlie house on Sunday night.

WA Police say they received a report of a disturbance at a home on Carakine Grove about 10pm.

“Police and St John WA attended the scene and located a 47-year-old man with multiple stabwounds,” a spokesman said.

“He was conveyed to Royal Perth Hospital for medical treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

“The woman was located at the scene and taken into custody without incident.”

A 47-year-old woman has been charged with one count of unlawful wounding with circumstances of aggravation.

She is due to appear in Armadale Magistrates Court today.

It’s the first day of the school year for hundreds of thousands of students across WA today.

WA Police are reminding drivers of the increase in traffic on the roads and 40km/h school zones.

Road Policing Demand Superintendent Glenn Spencer said officers would be out in force from this morning around school crossings to monitor driver behaviour.

“We’ll be using high visibility patrols, and we’ll be patrolling near schools using marked police vehicles, police motorcycles and safety cameras,” he said.

“Police will be targeting dangerous driving behaviours, particularly speeding and driver inattention.

“Officers will be conducting compliance checks to make sure that our drivers and passengers are wearing seatbelts, and the children in the vehicles are using the appropriate child booster seats.”
