Police still searching for woman who ‘tried to lure child from Baldivis playground’

WA Police continue to search for a woman who allegedly tried to lure a child away from a Baldivis playground yesterday.

Authorities allege the incident happened at a park on Annabell Way just before 3pm.

The child’s parent intervened and stopped the woman, who was a stranger, from taking the child.

Rockingham Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the woman involved.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.

Elderly Perth man killed after being struck by ute

An elderly man has died after being struck by a car in Perth’s east last night.

WA Police said the 89-year-old was killed when a Nissan Navara hit him on Farrall Road around 6.40pm.

The driver of the ute stopped and assisted police at the scene.

Unfortunately, the pedestrian could not be saved.

Anyone with dashcam footage or information about the crash is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.

Family escape Mount Lawley house fire

To overnight news now, and firefighters have rescued a family from a house fire in Mount Lawley overnight.

The blaze started around 11pm last night at a property on the corner of Farnley Street and First Avenue.

Around 15 firefighters attended and evacuated the family before bringing the fire under control. At its peak, the flames and smoke were pouring out the roof.

It’s understood the fire started in the roof space of the second floor, which points to an electrical fault, however the cause of the blaze is yet to be determined.

No one was injured, and crews managed to save the house from any major structural damage.
