Joint out with illness

Some breaking news from team Australia, with no.1 women’s player Maya Joint having to withdraw due to illness.

Joint missed media and team commitments on Friday and was under doctors orders to rest, but captain Lleyton Hewitt was confident she would be able to take to the court.

She will be replaced by Storm Hunter.

We’ll bring you more news on that when we get it.

Welcome

Good evening, and welcome to our live coverage of the 2026 United Cup.

Billie Eder here to take you through tonight’s action, which will be team Australia taking on team Norway at Ken Rosewall Arena in Sydney.

Our first match was meant to get under way at 5.30pm, but the previous tie between China and Belgium ran long.

We’ll keep you updated with a start time, but we have plenty of news to bring you until then.

Let’s get going.
