Teenage student hospitalised after stabbing attack near school

A teenage boy has been hospitalised with serious injuries after being attacked by a gang after school in Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs on Monday.

The 15-year-old victim, an Alkira Secondary College student, was stabbed in a park near the Cranbourne North school at about 3.20pm.

Police were still searching for multiple people involved on Tuesday morning, after the group fled the scene on foot.

The alleged offenders were not believed to be students from the public secondary college.

“It is understood a group of teenagers had an altercation before a boy was stabbed in a park on Sabel Drive,” a police spokesperson said.

“A crime scene is in place and officers are searching for the outstanding offenders.”

Ambulance Victoria’s Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance (MICA) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) paramedics treated the teenager on Monday.

A spokesperson said he had been transported to hospital in a serious condition after sustaining injuries to his upper body.

Alkira College was providing wellbeing support to those involved in the incident on Tuesday.

An Education Department spokesperson said the assault occurred outside the school and after school hours.
