Sydney man charged after hundreds of kilos of cannabis seized

A second man has been charged after police seized more than 300 kilograms of cannabis and over $125,000 worth of cocaine from Sydney’s west earlier this year.

In April, police raided a home in Birdwood Avenue, Cabramatta, and seized 311kg of cannabis with an estimated potential street value of over $2 million, along with cocaine with an estimated potential street value of $125,700 and $2100 cash.

Phuc Khanh Hoang, 45, was arrested on Wednesday following a vehicle stop in Cecil Hills and was charged with supplying a prohibited drug in a quantity greater than a large commercial quantity.

Hoang’s matter was heard in bail division court on Thursday, where his legal team did not apply for bail, and it was formally refused.

He will next appear in court on February 26 at Campbelltown Local Court.

Hoang is the second person to be charged following the seizure.

Dinh Du Phu, 27, was arrested at the scene in April and remains before the court charged with supplying a prohibited drug in a quantity greater than a large commercial quantity, supplying a prohibited drug in an amount greater than a large commercial quantity, and dealing with property proceeds of crime.

The arrests took place under Strike Force Grassy, an operation targeting alleged known offenders involved in enhanced indoor cannabis cultivation.
