Selections based on a soft track.

Race 1

1. Extremely Perfect has had three starts since leaving a city stable, being placed in two races at Armidale either side of a fourth at Tamworth. He raced on the speed when finishing second as favourite at his last start and from the good barrier here should be on the pace from the outset. 5. Daisy Duck is having her first start for a new stable after doing all her racing to date in Victoria. She is fresh for this and is capable of running a good race. 6. Go Russian disappointed at Newcastle when fifth of six last week but should find this easier and is worth another chance. 4. Pivotal Miss has had two trials leading into this debut and won the first at Kembla Grange before finishing last in the latest of them at Scone after joining another stable. She bears close watching.
How to play it: Extremely Perfect to win.

Race 2

6. Rock Emperor had two barrier trials before making his debut with a third at Tamworth when racing on the speed and battling on reasonably well. He should benefit from that event and can do better in this. 8. Twice Az Cool ran well when a last-start second at Scone at his first run in more than a year. He should figure prominently again. 9. Lobbyist has been placed in three of her seven starts and comes into this after a last-start third at Armidale. 4. Atomic Bomber is on debut and has had two recent trials at Muswellbrook, running second in the latest of them.
How to play it: Rock Emperor to win.

Race 3

1. Vierville has not been beaten too far in either of his past two starts at Armidale and Taree despite finishing midfield in each of them. He’s shown talent with four wins from 15 starts and this looks within his reach. 7. Northern Boogie was a winner at Muswellbrook before a last-start third at Armidale and is racing well enough to pose a threat. 3. Golden Vader has had two runs back from a spell for a new stable and should be ready to improve. 9. Sunday Bell was midfield at Scone when last produced and is a knockout chance here.
How to play it: Vierville to win.

Race 4

3. Any Questions has not been beaten far in two runs for the new stable. He’s drawn wide here but only needs to overcome that to break through. 4. Zorko resumed with a solid fourth at Taree and looks the main danger. 8. Luna Cruiser beat home Any Questions when they clashed last start and warrants respect. 13. Pressiaire has had two starts and is ready to show her best.
How to play it: Any Questions to win.

Race 5

7. Sir Herridah hit the line well to score when resuming from a spell at Dubbo and then backed that up with a fifth at Muswellbrook as favourite. He was placed in both runs in his first campaign and looks to have the scope to go on with it. 1. He’s My Warrior did the job well to score at Tamworth when leading last time out and can be prominent again with a repeat. 2. Lord Of The Sun was a winner last start at Armidale that is worth including among the chances. 5. My Angel Shell was first up from a spell for a new stable when down the track at Scone and can improve.
How to play it: Sir Herridah to win.

Race 6

8. Think Back has hit winning form in each of her past two starts at Muswellbrook and Armidale. She has led throughout in each of them and only needs to maintain that form to be the one to beat. 4. Piccaderro won at Taree three starts ago and comes into this after a last-start eighth at Wyong. This is easier. 2. Zelestial has been mixing her form of late, but she’s shown more than enough potential in her Australian career to be a chance. 7. Big Short did the job well to score at Tamworth when last produced and could go on with the job.
How to play it: Think Back to win.

Race 7

1. Imperial State resumes after a lengthy break having previously been in the Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou stable. He’s shown glimpses of talent in his career and if anywhere near his best looks suited with the apprentice allowance despite the wide draw. 2. Currumbin Alley resumed from a spell at Scone two starts ago and led throughout to score by a big margin. He backed that up with a midfield finish at Muswellbrook when not beaten too far and should run well again in this. 6. Under The Collar was a winner last start at Armidale and warrants respect. 9. Bonoyster has been placed in each of his past three starts and another forward showing is on the cards.
How to play it: Imperial State each way.
