RACE 1

3. Birdy Girl is an improving mare who emerges as the one to beat after running home hard into a place in two runs back from a spell. The drop in distance is offset by a month between runs. 1. Speedy Pete is an emerging five-year-old who found the line well when having his first outing in a year. That race had a little more depth than this one, and with gear changes in play, he’s over the odds. Watch the betting on 2. Big Steppa returning for his second prep off two trials, while 11. Mess Around is a filly by Outreach on debut behind two trials.
How to play it: Birdy Girl to win.

RACE 2

1. Call Me Basil was well backed and chased hard when having just his second start after a 33-week break. Bred to get further, and he’ll be strong late here with that extra fitness in play. 2. Metal Magic has been sparingly raced this year, but showed last start he’s capable of attacking the line off a solid tempo, and is drawn to get a soft run. 7. Cosmora is honest and can run into the minor money, while 8. Fierce Impulse can improve sharply at her third start after flopping as a well-backed favourite in Canberra a fortnight ago.
How to play it: Call Me Basil to win.

RACE 3

3. Navy Buoy is well-placed to make it two wins from his last three, and is pushed out to the mile on a quick turnaround. Swept clear to easily win his maiden at Armidale before doing his best work late in a deeper CL1 at Newcastle just eight days ago. That form reads well for this despite a wide draw, and can be saved up for one run at them over the final 400m. 10. Balmain Warrior made a solid debut at Scone despite being unwanted in betting, and improves further here. Keep safe 1. Caledonian at big odds fourth-up with blinkers added. 6. Think I’m Irish is hard fit and will roll forward from a middle gate, and 4. Bold Splendor draws the fence and will relish a drop in class second-up.
How to play it: Navy Buoy to win.

RACE 4

3. Jimmy Manolo hit the line well third-up at Wyong, draws to do no work and finds a thinner country race. Well over the odds. 1. Mission Bravo is a tough weight carrier who defied a betting drift, storming home to win at Taree after reloading from a setback. 4. Purple Kitty has finished hard to win two of his last three, but a query going back up sharply in distance under this weight. 6. Bump ‘N’ Run deep into the current prep heads the rest from 9. Stock Road improving fourth-up and back from provincial level.
How to play it: Jimmy Manolo to win.

RACE 5

7. Oh Deer is a progressive enough provincial mare and well-placed to pounce second-up. Worked home okay behind a dominant winner at Hawkesbury before coming off a month-long break to hit the line late in a deeper CL1 at Wyong. That form reads well in what is a moderate field, and she just needs to find cover before launching late. 1. Listins Lass draws wide, but will relish coming back from a tougher provincial BM 64. 2. Grande Bellezza dropping in grade third-up, and 3. Prorata also back in class fourth-up with a significant jockey change; can both run into the money, while 5. Damascus Gate resuming off a lengthy break with a handy fresh record can add value into exotic bets.
How to play it: Oh Deer to win.

RACE 6

2. Agirlsbestfriend can launch here second-up off a year-long break dropping back from a tougher metropolitan BM 64 where she failed to run out a similar trip. Will come on big from that effort coming back to country level, and she nearly always takes a run or two to hit her straps. Won two straight in spring last year up to BM 86 grade, and a jockey change is a significant pointer. 8. Change The Date will likely jump favourite having placed in his last two at a higher level, but under the odds in what is a handy and open field. 6. Jessandi draws to get a soft run fourth-up. 3. Rebel’s Edge can also get a cosy passage from the inside draw third-up dropping back from tougher provincial opposition; while 4. Wealthy Investor third-up is the best of the rest.
How to play it: Agirlsbestfriend to win.

RACE 7

1. Cool Fizz finds is a sparingly raced and talented mare who finds a moderate and very winnable race third-up. Missed by a whisker in a deeper CL3 last start and staying over the trip with the leading jockey taking over, she can put this field to the sword despite the big weight. 3. Invincible Whip has disappointed this prep, but is hard fit with a gear change in play. 8. Yes Yes Boss has been mixing her form, but over the odds here. 9. Nikody’s Diego draws inside, although hasn’t won for a long time. Gap to the rest.
How to play it: Cool Fizz to win.
