Selections based on a good track.

Race 1

8. Shadashi finished second at Newcastle back in August and was then down the track in four runs before bouncing back to form with a last start second at Canterbury behind the talented Sweltering. If she can run up to that effort, she should take a power of beating in this. 1. Bluebird Bay ran well when finishing second at Scone and backed that up with a last-start third at Newcastle behind Doradus. He should give plenty of cheek again. 2. Juan Pablo has a win and five placings from 10 starts and has been in the minor money in his latest two starts. Another bold showing is on the cards. 6. Liyah’s Girl has finished second in two of five starts and can be thereabouts in the finish of this without surprising.

How to play it: Shadashi WIN.

Race 2

5. Brightburn is a Deep Field filly making her debut here and has looked good winning each of her two trials in preparation. She looks set for a winning debut. 10. Tennessee Dolly debuted with a fourth at Gosford and looms as the danger with a repeat of that. 7. Kosrae finished fourth on debut at Nowra and has place claims.

How to play it: Brightburn WIN.

Race 3

11. Chix is on debut and has had three recent trials to be fitted for this and performed well in each of them. She looks to have the ability to make a winning debut. 8. Barking Mad has had three starts and hasn’t been disgraced in any of them despite being unplaced in each of them. 3. Zoysia resumes after more than a year away from racing and bears close watching.

How to play it: Chix WIN.

Race 4

4. Federal Reserve has had two starts back from a spell and has performed well in each pf them with a third at this track being followed by a second at Newcastle. He looks to be on the up and this looks a nice race for him to break through in. 8. Gloria ran well when making her debut with a third at Wyong and she can figure prominently again. 9. Satin’s Legacy has been racing well with second placings at Muswellbrook and Scone at her latest two starts and another bold showing is expected. 1. Cathedral Cove comes into this on the back of a last start fourth and has place claims.

How to play it: Federal Reserve WIN.

Race 5

1. Longinus had been just behind the placings in his latest two starts at the end of his last campaign before being spelled. He had two trials before resuming with a fifth at Kembla Grange when not beaten too far after leading. He should have taken benefit from that run and can improve in this. 4. Ahellbenda has performed well in two runs back from a spell and looks set to peak here after running home well at Gosford last time out. 7. Grey Secret is resuming from a spell having been down the track at Kembla Grange when last produced. 2. Astrogazer is also resuming from a spell having failed before the break and has had two trials to prepare.

How to play it: Longinus WIN.

Race 6

2. How Much Better ran fifth at Canterbury back in August and then was spelled. He had two trials before resuming with a close-up third at Gosford when hitting the line well and the step-up in distance here should be ideal. 4. Atelier has a good record with three wins and two seconds from just the eight starts. She’s first-up from a spell here on the back of two barrier trials and should be primed to run a bold race fresh. 5. Aroha Stone was a Rosehill placegetter before being spelled and she’s performed well in two trials in preparation. She’s good a good overall record and should be prominent. 6. Edge Of Midnight has won in good style in his latest two starts at Port Macquarie and Taree and should be hitting the line well again.

How to play it: How Much Better EACH WAY.

Race 7

1. True Amor resumes from a spell here, having finished fifth at Doomben behind Spywire in August. He won at Wyong two starts before that and finished second at Wyong before the Doomben effort. He’s a talented son of I Am Invincible and can return as a winner in this. 3. Grey Effects won well at Coffs Harbour back in September and has been attacking the line well of late having finished in the placings in his latest three starts at Port Macquarie, Doomben and Kempsey. He should be hitting the line hard again here. 4. Smart Serenade has been racing well with a Taree win being followed by placings at Muswellbrook and Hawkesbury. 5. Savoca has been thereabouts of late with a fourth at this track being followed by a last start fourth at Scone.

How to play it: True Amor WIN.

Best Bets: Race 3 (11) Chix.

Race 7 (1) True Amor.

Best Value: Race 6 (2) How Much Better.
