The Duke of York considered it his “birthright” to sleep with 17-year-old Virginia Giuffre, she has claimed in her posthumous memoir.

Giuffre finished writing the book, Nobody’s Girl, last October, six months before she took her own life in Australia aged 41. The 400-page book is due to be published next week, but various excerpts were printed on Wednesday.

She had accused the duke of raping and abusing her on three separate occasions when she was 17, the first when she was trafficked to London in March 2001.

Andrew has denied the allegations and a civil claim brought in the US was settled out of court with no admission of guilt.

In the book, Giuffre states: “In the years since, I’ve thought a lot about how he behaved. He was friendly enough, but still entitled – as if he believed having sex with me was his birthright.”

She repeats the claim that she was paid $US15,000 (about$A23,000) by Jeffrey Epstein for “servicing the man the tabloids called ‘Randy Andy’”.

The duke was not given advance sight of the memoir. One friend suggested he was under no illusion that the allegations made against him would be repeated, with some fearing they will again be used as a “useful distraction” for those with closer and deeper ties to Epstein, who died in prison in 2019.

Giuffre’s memoir recalls the moment she was introduced to the duke by British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell at her Mayfair townhouse, feeling “like Cinderella” about to meet a “handsome prince”.

She goes on to describe how Epstein took a photograph of her with the duke and Maxwell on her Kodak camera before they went to Tramp nightclub, where, she claimed, the duke proved himself a “bumbling dancer” and “sweated profusely”.

Andrew has claimed the photograph was doctored and held up her description of his excessive sweating as proof she was lying because he suffered from a “peculiar medical condition” that meant he did not sweat.

Later, the memoir states: “On the way back, Maxwell told me, ‘When we get home, you are to do for him what you do for Jeffrey’. We disrobed and got in the tub, but didn’t stay there long because the prince was eager to get to the bed. He was particularly attentive to my feet, caressing my toes and licking my arches.”

She claims her second meeting with the duke was at Epstein’s mansion in Manhattan, where Maxwell presented him with a Spitting Image puppet of himself, which he is claimed to have used to touch her and another woman, Johanna Sjoberg, inappropriately.

The book states: “The symbolism was impossible to ignore. Johanna and I were Maxwell and Epstein’s puppets, and they were pulling the strings.”

A third incident is claimed to have taken place on Little Saint James, Epstein’s private island, where Giuffre has alleged that a group including Epstein, the duke and eight young girls had sex together.

Elsewhere in the book, Giuffre describes meeting Donald Trump for the first time when she started working at the spa at his Mar-a-Lago country club in Florida as a teenager.

She was driven to the beachfront estate by her father, Sky Roberts, who was also an employee, responsible for maintaining air-conditioning units and tennis courts.

Her memoir states: “They weren’t friends, exactly. But Dad worked hard, and Trump liked that – I’d seen photos of them posing together, shaking hands. So one day my father took me to Trump’s office. ‘This is my daughter,’ Dad said, and his voice sounded proud.” It adds that Trump “couldn’t have been friendlier” and told her it was fantastic she was there.

Trump has faced questions about how well he knew Giuffre and how much he knew about Epstein’s abuse. The financier once described the now-president as his “closest friend” and the pair were pictured together at parties. Trump has sought to distance himself from the late paedophile while resisting demands to release files relating to Epstein.

The book also says that in mid-2000, weeks before Giuffre’s 17th birthday, Maxwell spotted her walking down the road and followed her inside, like an “apex predator”.

She says Maxwell told her she was looking for a massage therapist for a wealthy man who lived less than two miles away, and that evening she was taken to Epstein’s home to find him lying naked on a massage table in a bedroom.

Subsequently, the book says: “My body was used in ways that did enormous damage to me. But the worst things Epstein and Maxwell did to me weren’t physical, but psychological.

“From the start, they manipulated me into participating in behaviours that ate away at me, eroding my ability to comprehend reality and preventing me from defending myself. From the start, I was groomed to be complicit in my own devastation. Of all the terrible wounds they inflicted, that forced complicity was the most destructive.”
