Your say – Sea Eagles or Warriors?

Tom Turbo goes close for Manly

This time Tom Trbojevic sees a gap and runs at it himself, crashing over beneath the posts, but he’s held up by a terrific tackle from Warriors hooker Sam Healey.

The Sea Eagles go close again when Trbojevic holds up a pass for Lehi Hopaote just a moment too long, with the ball going forward and being knocked on by Tommy Talau.

Trbojevic sends Hopoate in as Manly stretch clear

A hectic start to the game continues at Brookvale, Tom Trbojevic drifting out to the left on the last tackle, taking a long pass from Luke Brooks, and sending a bullet cutout ball to Lehi Hopoate for his second of the night.

Daly Cherry-Evans puts his conversion wide to the left – he’s kicked the toughest one, missed the other two so far – and this is turning into an absolute tryfest.

History made in DCE’s Sea Eagles farewell

One of rugby league’s most drawn-out goodbyes has now featured the game’s fastest-ever try.

Daly Cherry-Evans was applauding the Manly fans at 4 Pines Park for his last game at the club, the Warriors kicked off, Cherry-Evans allowed it bounce, and James Fisher-Harris was over. It took a whole nine seconds.

The previous quickest try was scored by Parramatta’s Kirisome Auva’a against the Broncos in 2017.

Warriors lose Berry to dislocated shoulder, Manly score again

This has been a truly chaotic start to this game, with news coming in that the Warriors have lost centre Rocco Berry for the night due to a dislocated shoulder.

And now a Warriors turnover inside their own half puts Manly on the attack again – they earn a repeat set, then Jake Simpkins darts over from dummy-half. But wait – the bunker is taking another few looks at the grounding, as it appears the ball has been held up over the line.

Now they’ve given it the green light. Incredibly, after conceding inside 10 seconds, the Sea Eagles lead inside the first 10 minutes. Cherry-Evans misses a straightforward conversion attempt, after slotting his first chance from the sideline.

DCE sets up Manly’s first try with big 40-20

The crowd is momentarily silenced by that try – surely the fastest try in the history of the game in Australia – but they spark up now as Daly Cherry-Evans kicks a terrific 40-20. Manly go on the attack and can equalise immediately … and they do!

A left-side shift opens up the Warriors defence, and Ben Trbojevic gets through a gap then sends Lehi Hopoate over. Two tries inside the first five minutes. Madness.

And now Warriors centre Rocco Berry leaves the field injured. And Cherry-Evans kicks the conversion from the sideline. It’s all happening.

Warriors score amazing try off the kick-off

The Warriors take the field and now Manly do the same, with all eyes on Daly Cherry-Evans in what will almost certainly be his final game in Sea Eagles colours.

The Warriors kick us off – and score! The ball bounced past Cherry-Evans and it’s a shocking bounce for Jason Saab, and James Fisher-Harris grabs it and scores an incredible try for the visitors! Amazing start.

The Benji text that made DCE emotional

By Christian Nicolussi

Daly Cherry-Evans has revealed how a text message from Wests Tigers coach Benji Marshall left him emotional in the lead-up to his 350th NRL game.

There was an outpouring of love for the skipper when he played his 350th game at Brookvale against the Dolphins, and after looking through all the congratulatory messages, Cherry-Evans said the one from Marshall really struck a chord.

“There were a few messages that surprised me,” Cherry-Evans said. “It always means a lot when you hear from ex-teammates and them telling you what it meant for them to play with me. But one text I will publicly recognise is a text from Benji Marshall.

“Being a kid who was actually inspired by Benji, to receive his message was really touching.

“I won’t go into what he said, but it hit home because he went through what I’m going through. It was nice to hear that from him.”

NRL warns of $5500 fines if fans take the field to celebrate Johnston

If Alex Johnston breaks the all-time tryscoring record in tonight’s 8pm game, any fans who rush onto the field to mark the occasion could be in for an expensive night.

The NRL has warned spectators face fines of up to $5500 and stadium bans if they enter the field, even to celebrate a milestone moment.

Johnston needs three tries to pass Ken Irvine’s record of 212 career tries.

It’s a position that hasn’t gone down particularly well with fans, with former Rabbitohs and Panthers winger Josh Mansour replying: “POWER IN NUMBERS!!! 🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏻‍♂️” .
