A company selling inexpensive imitations of designer perfumes is planning to open in one of the city’s busiest retail spots.
Brisbane-based jewellery chain Michael Hill occupied the site at 5/130 Queen Street Mall, underneath McDonald’s, but closed earlier this year.
A development application lodged with Brisbane City Council in May shows Palermo Perfumes is planning to open in its place.
The company describes itself as “Australia’s leading destinations for designer-inspired perfumes, offering an extensive fragrance library of over 1600 high-quality scents”.
“Our collection is inspired by some of the world’s most iconic designer, niche, and luxury fragrances.”
Its website sells knock-off versions of famous brands’ fragrances, and says it is also planning to open new stores in Chermside and Mount Gravatt.
The company did not respond to request for comment.
Artist impressions lodged with the development application shows dark stone-like finishes covering much of the interior, with a large curved sales counter.
Wedged between the entrance to McDonald’s and KFC, the site was occupied by bag store Strandbags before Michael Hill took over.
