A man’s body has been found 360 kilometres from the scene of a stabbing in Kew, where an 18-year-old woman was knifed outside her home.
Police confirmed they were searching for the man after the stabbing at Miller Grove about 1am Wednesday.
Investigators were told an 18-year-old woman had returned from a night out with friends when she was confronted by a man known to her, before she was stabbed.
She was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but is now in a stable condition.
Following the stabbing, police launched a search operation for the 18-year-old Camberwell man.
At 6.15am on Wednesday, following a call to Triple Zero, local Antwerp police officers discovered his body in the Mallee locale, 18 kilometres north of Dimboola.
Police said detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, but are not looking for anyone else. The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
