Man mauled to death by dogs in Liberty City, Miami Police say
A man was found dead after a possible dog attack in Miami early Sunday morning, police said.
Just before 12:55 a.m., officers responded to a call about a man who was "attacked by dogs" near 812 NW 67th St. in Liberty City, City of Miami Police told CBS News Miami.
When they arrived, officers found a man believed to be between his 30s and 40s, who was dead at the scene. Miami-Dade Animal Services responded and confiscated 11 dogs that were found at the property.
However, Animal Services said Monday it's unclear whether the dogs were involved in the man's death, which the medical examiner's office will determine.
Police also confirmed that the victim suffered injuries caused by a dog, but the medical examiner will determine if those injuries happened before or after his death.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
This is the second incident involving dogs in a matter of weeks. Last month, 71-year-old Doreen Richards Broadbelt was killed in an early morning suspected dog attack in Miami Gardens on Labor Day, authorities said.
