A man has been charged with murder after a three-week-old boy died in a Brisbane hospital from critical injuries.

Hank Sherriff, 25, from Cleveland, was charged on Monday over the death of the boy, who was brought to the Queensland Children’s Hospital in a critical condition on July 18, 2024.

The baby died four days later in hospital.

Detectives from Logan, south of Brisbane, recently received medical testing results that allegedly indicated he died from internal injuries.

Police will allege those injuries were inflicted at an address on Rosemary Street, Greenbank, and on Monday they charged Sherriff, who was known to the boy.

The Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday afternoon heard Sherriff had applied for legal aid.

The case was adjourned by Magistrate Ross Mack to later this month, with Sherriff remanded in custody.
