A 27-year-old Westmeadows man has been arrested, and a crime scene has been established.
Police searched a Broadmeadows park on June 16 after Bishop’s phone had last been tracked there.
They had previously searched the Broadmeadows Valley Park on Barry Road on June 4 in an attempt to find Bishop, who was last seen at his home in Lalor Crescent, Sunbury, on May 27 by his housemate.
Bishop was reported missing by his mother on May 29.
Bishop had not accessed his phone or bank accounts in the weeks since he went missing, and his family described his disappearance as out of character.
Three weeks ago, Bishop’s parents made an emotional plea for their son’s return, urging anyone with information to come forward.
“We just want him to know that we love him,” Bishop’s father, Travis, said.
“We just want him to be safe … we’ve had a lot of support, but we still haven’t gotten any closer to our son.”
Bishop had not been reported missing before and was not known to police. However, detectives were investigating whether he had been involved in criminal activity.
Anyone who has information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
