The Strathfield home built in 1923 for the late Harold Arnott, director of Arnott’s Biscuits and the grandson of founder William Arnott, is for sale with a price guide of over $20 million.

Harold remained the owner of the landmark property designed by Stafford Harmon Buchanan on Homebush Road, until his death in 1971. The current owners, business owners Ralph and Maria Mesiti, are downsizing.

The estate is set on a block of 4500 square metres and consists of a five-bedroom home with a studio and six bathrooms, as well as a secondary two-storey, four-bedroom residence, that are to be sold in one line.

The stately manor, which is classified by the National Trust, oozes Victorian elegance. It has a grand circle driveway, formal and casual wings, a billiards room with wet bar and wine cellar, a floodlit tennis court and a pool and spa.

A lemon exterior with white lattice windows offers curb appeal. Interiors feature parquetry floors, glazed arched doorways, skylights and ornate patterned wallpaper.

The property was used as an exterior location for the Prime Minister’s residence The Lodge in the 2022-23 ABC series The PM’s Daughter.

The estate is set to hit property portals next week through The Agency co-founder Steven Chen via an expressions of interest campaign.

New north shore record hopes

A palatial residence on a 2235-square-metre block in Mosman has splashed on to the market with a price guide of $45 million to $50 million.

The Mosman suburb record is $43.5 million, also the north shore record.

The six-bedroom, seven-bathroom, three-storey property was designed by architect Susan Rothwell for the Balnaves philanthropic family, who purchased the home for $6.525 million in 2001.

The exterior features Palladian architecture with its symmetry and column-like design and interiors evoke glamour with a central atrium water feature and travertine bathrooms.

There are formal and casual wings, a wet-edge pool, a spa, gym, steam room and uninterrupted views from North to South Head and Balmoral Beach.

The property is being sold through Michael Coombs and Adrian Bridges of Atlas Lower North Shore.

A-list actress scores a deal off-screen

Beloved Aussie actress Rebel Wilson has sold her Balmain investment property after listing it last month with a guide of $2 million.

At the time of publication, the listing for the two-bedroom, two-bathroom unit in the 100 Balmain heritage conversion had been removed from real estate portals.

Anna Wilson of CobdenHayson Balmain, who held the listing, could not be reached for comment.

The Pitch Perfect star purchased the unit off the plan for $1.88 million in 2018. The two-storey property has a stone kitchen, views of the city skyline and Anzac Bridge from the balcony and double car garaging with a Tesla charger.

Sandstone stunner in Bondi Beach

One of Bondi Beach’s rare sandstone cottages, owned by online publisher-turned-producer Jackie Maxted, has hit the market with a price guide of $8 million.

Maxted listed the five-bedroom, three-bathroom home for $7.25 million in March last year with a different agency. She purchased the property for $4.55 million in 2015.

The abode had a contemporary redesign by architect Andrew Burges before she purchased it, when her Beauty Heaven Group was bought out by Bauer Media. More recently, the yoga devotee produced the Netflix series Chef’s Table.

The two-storey residence has a retreat-like feel with sandstone walls, earthy tones, a floating staircase, Brazilian quartzite and an Italian pendant light in the kitchen.

The property is being sold through James Ball and Maclay Longhurst of Sydney Sotheby’s International Realty. It has an auction scheduled for Saturday, November 8.

A grand garden estate in Wahroonga, owned by interior designer Kim Taylor, has made a fashionable arrival on the market with a price guide of $7.75 million to $8.35 million.

Taylor bought the estate for $850,000 in 1993.

Set on 1975 square metres, the Federation Queen Anne home includes eye-catching interiors with a statement checkerboard floor in the foyer, a grand staircase, chandeliers, leadlight windows, pressed metal ceilings and marble fireplaces.

The property has been used as a honeymoon retreat in the 1960s and a hostel for repatriated soldiers during WWI.
