The driver in a fatal crash that killed two young girls has been charged with dangerous driving causing death.
A three-year-old and four-year-old girl died in hospital after the silver Ford Territory they were passengers in left the road and crashed into a tree on Muriel Street in Viveash on April 17.
The children were rushed to Perth Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries, but both died nine days later when their life support was turned off.
The driver, a 24-year-old man, and his passenger, a 24-year-old woman, were taken to Royal Perth Hospital with serious injuries.
In the days after the crash, police appealed for anyone who saw the car about two hours before the crash at nearby Reg Bond Reserve on Bernly Drive to contact them.
Muriel Street is about two kilometres from the reserve, which is a popular spot among families on the edge of Perth’s Swan River.
On Tuesday, detectives confirmed the 24-year-old man, from Caversham, had been charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing death and one count of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.
He is due to appear in Midland Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
