Brother of prominent Sydney property developer allegedly kidnapped by ‘underworld gang’

The brother of a prominent Sydney developer was allegedly kidnapped by an “underworld gang” from outside his home in the city’s west before being recovered alive after a secret police operation.

A former gangster took to social media on Thursday, pleading for unknown culprits to release George Ayoub, the brother of Masscon founder Charlie Ayoub.

Videos posted by TikTok user Triggz, real name Peter Vaiusu, said he got a call from a distressed Charlie Ayoub at 6am on Thursday.

“He got kidnapped this morning, he has never been in trouble in his life, never had a criminal record, never been involved with gangs,” the self-described ex-gangster claimed.

“But they nabbed him this morning because his brother, Charlie, has a little bit of money.”

Triggz said he was sending a message to the gangs asking for George’s release.

“To the gang that nabbed him this morning I’m asking you, please, let him go.”

Triggz said he would give them $80,000 worth of gold which he would hand over, cutting short his own personal goal of making $1 million in a year since his release from prison.

“I’ve lived the life, I’ve been charged with kidnapping myself – other gangsters – so I know how it works,” he said.

“All I’m asking for is a bit of compassion… At this point, right now, it’s all about the Ayoub family.

“This guy is not a gangster.”

Family members and friends converged on the Belfield home on Thursday afternoon, comforting each other and speaking with police.

Detectives with clipboards came and went from the property, which was guarded by police.

Cars of family and friends joined police patrolling the streets around the home.

Ayoub, 28, is also involved in business dealings with his two brothers, Charlie, 37, and Normie, 34. The trio own a rural property in the Southern Highlands.

NSW Police on Monday morning said they had recovered Ayoub alive after days of secretive investigations.

The Herald was asked not to release details of the kidnapping last week by police, who cited fears publicity might incite the kidnappers to harm Ayoub.

The Robbery and Serious Crime Squad spent four days trying to locate Ayoub.
